Lipstick: Five Sentence Fiction

“Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher
Written by Archana Kapoor

He set up his easel in position, canvas in tow, oil paints raring to go; for the strokes that would be soon called a masterpiece like the hundreds that were created in the past.

The painting competition that he awaited so ardently finally arrived; not that he was ever lured by competitions, but this one held special meaning.

As the bell chimed to mark the beginning of the event, he but took all of ten minutes to complete the much sort after composition; almost as if he was quoting from memory.

Astounded at his pace of work and being the judge of the day, I eagerly moved towards him to witness the artwork and was taken aback with what I saw.

It was a mirror image of my lips with my favourite shade of lipstick that I wore even today to match the colour of my eyes – amethyst.
